Reviewzinho gringo pra relaxar....

KHALLICE– The Journey(CD)

Brazil
June 2007
Ronny Elst
Style: Progressive Metal
Running time: 56:33 (Tracks: 9)

Khallice, the band of founder/guitarist Marcelo Barbosa, played in the beginning covers from Rush, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple. After the release of two demo's, vocalist Alirio Netto (who has performed the role of Jesus in the Brazilian and Mexican casts of Jesus Christ Superstar) joined them. With him, the band soon started the recordings of their English language debut album."The Journey" is composed of new tunes and rebuilt versions of songs written since the beginning of the band. Influences from past and present bands which can be heard are Shadow Gallery but especially Dream Theater and Rush. They mix their progmetal songs with progrock, jazzrock and fusion. The keyboards add 70's/80's touches to their music, Alirio's vocals reach close to James LaBrie voice, and Marcelo is for me the star of this band with his great guitarparts and solo's.Maybe the only complaint is that their compositions might be a bit too technical/complex for the moment.
