Bom, tudo bem que só posto aqui sobre os filmes que eu gosto, mas tenho que ressaltar que desta vez o caso é um pouco mais sério. Quem quer ser milionário é algo muito acima da média dos filmes bons. Com uma narrativa ímpar, envolvente e dinâmina o diretor nunca deixa a peteca cair. O filme foi TOTALMENTE rodado na India e NENHUM ator famoso fez parte do elenco Mesmo assim faturou o Globo de Ouro em várias categorias inclusive melhor filme e melhor diretor desbancando inclusive o Curioso caso de Benjamin Button. São 10 indicações ao Oscar e mesmo tendo certeza que que é impossível a academia premiar um filme com essas características com o seu prêmio mais importante, tenho absoluta certeza de que mereceria.
O filme lida com questões como sorte/azar, destino, intolerância religiosa, lutas entre classes, exploração infantil, amor e muito mais de forma super clara e envolvente.
Simplesmente genial. Uma verdadeira obra-prima.
PS. Tive a impressão que o diretor (Danny Boyle) é fã do Cidade de Deus heim... quem sabe uma hora ele assume issso aí em alguma entrevista... ;)

Achei as cenas filmadas na favela com um approach muito parecido. A linguagem visual mesmo... de qualquer forma, o relacionamento entre os dois irmãos, enquanto pequenos também me remeteram ao Cidade de Deus.
Ps. Acho que a Academia deu o premio máximo para esse filme só de sacanagem comigo. Só pra estragar meu post...

I think there are two general ideas which is the same in both movies:
1. If you have dream and follow it, there's a chance in any situation you're in
2. When men run with guns, children and women are hurt the first
To be honest, Cidade De Deus seems to me deeper and more impressive, more ideas etc etc but this one is very good. My friends here also like it.
That's funny that we watch the same movies in different parts of the world... and at the same time the main movie award was won by the film with great national colours. Do you know what I mean?
That's funny, that the movie is done by modern "western", European traditions of filming, but there are a lot of typical Bollywood things. I don't know how it's in Brazil, here in Russia Indian cinema is a kind of CULT since 50s maybe, since the first movies with Radj Kapoor. Maybe now it's less and more for elder women, but everyone here knows what's it's all about. And even in modern film it's impossible to avoid old traditions of Indian school.
And for sure they dance and sing... at least in the end. )))
Also another funny idea: living your life means that you always answer questions posed for you, and sometimes you take a risk, cos you further life depends on your answer. But you should bebrave enough not to avoid the questions.

About Cidade de Deus, I wasn't talkin' about the script. But I think my english is too pooor to explain my thougths about that. To be honest, I'm not that clear in portuguese too.

Anyway, Cidade de Deus in in my head, I mean, like the one of the most impressive movies I have seen not so long ago. So that's logical to compare especially if you remembered about it.
Also I posted some my impressions about the subject which is not necessarily link with you thoughts, as far as we talk about it, ok?
